Common Conditions - Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes chronic widespread pain in the muscles throughout the body. Other symptoms include headaches, sleep disturbance anxiety and depression, and irritable bowel symptoms. As other conditions can mimic these symptoms tests are often carried out to rule out other diseases before the diagnosis is confirmed. Treatments include medicines to relieve the pain, improve the quality of your sleep and improve mood. Physical and other exercise therapies, relaxation techniques and counselling to teach coping strategies can all be beneficial.
